Catering and hospitality students at Bradford College benefit from training in modern, industry-standard facilities. Four extensive kitchens, including one for pastry preparation, are used to prepare delicious food for the College’s on-site Grove Restaurant and Café Bar.
This fully-functioning commercial restaurant allows students to practice preparing weekly menus and cooking a variety of dishes, through to working front-of-house and taking payments from customers in a real-world environment. The restaurant is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, offering a lunchtime menu created and served by Level 2 students. On Thursdays, Level 3 students manage a three-course a la carte evening service. Hours spent in The Grove form part of the course curriculum and assessment targets.
The fully licensed café bar serves a range of wines and alcoholic drinks, cakes, and refreshments like bubble teas. It also operates a professional barista machine for hot drinks and speciality coffees. Students can learn additional barista skills alongside formal qualifications to help give them the edge when looking for future work.”
