“Congratulations – we are very proud of you all.”
This is the message from Bradford College to its students as, despite the exceptional challenges faced by this year group, the GCSE pass rate has risen to 96 per cent this year with a further increase in the number of higher grades.
Dawn Leak, Vice Principal, said: “The College is delighted in the significant increase of students obtaining a grade 4 or above in their GCSE’s. We have seen an increase in the pass rate and the number of high grades (27.8%) which will allow our students to progress onto their next level of study or employment. This is fantastic news and is thanks to the hard work of students and staff.”
We will help you through the next steps
And Bradford College has pledged to support all students who have been affected by the announcement that BTEC results are being regraded in line with updated Ofqual guidance for A-Levels and GCSEs, and guide them through the next steps.
Dawn said: “We accept this has been a very challenging year and now we are doing everything we can to make sure all our students have the right support. We know that those who were due to be collecting their BTEC results today are facing further disruption. The College will be helping them to navigate through this period and make sure we can help them secure the right course for them.
We have a course for everyone
“Bradford College is ready to meet student needs and we can provide advice and support for students to make their choices. After so many months out of education some young people will be anxious about their next steps, particularly Year 11s who might not have had the same opportunities to attend physical open days. There is no need to panic; we will be able to meet student needs and we have a course for everyone.”
GCSE pass rates up in all age groups
Pass rates were up across all age groups taking GCSEs this year. Our 14-16 students have done exceptionally well as the pass rate rose to 97 per cent.
There were some strong results for individual subjects; 100 per cent of people taking GCSE chemistry passed with almost 78 per cent achieving grade 9-4.
Physics GCSE also saw a 100 per cent pass rate with around 82 per cent achieving higher grades. For English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) students, over 99 per cent passed their GCSEs with almost 43 per cent gaining grades 9-4.
