Two Bradford College students from The King’s Trust programme experienced a once-in-a-lifetime moment when they met His Majesty The King during his visit to Bradford Live on Thursday, 15 May

The visit was part of a wider royal engagement at Bradford Live, where The King met with young people supported by The King’s Trust, a charity His Majesty set up in 1976. The visit highlighted His Majesty’s ongoing commitment to supporting young people and skills development through The King’s Trust, formerly The Prince’s Trust.

Among those selected to represent The King’s Trust were Bradford College students Junaid Ashraf and Alfie Greenwood. The students shared their personal journeys on the programme, discussing how it has supported their confidence, career ambitions, and future goals.

The pair had the unique opportunity to speak directly with The King, sharing their experiences as young people building their futures through support from The King’s Trust.

Junaid Ashraf reflected on the moment: “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, it was really good to meet the King. The way he surrounds everyone, he listens and gives advice. It was a really good experience.”

Alfie Greenwood, also studying The King’s Trust programme, added: “Meeting the King is not something you do every day. When you were in the moment, it didn’t feel real – it felt really special. He tries to get to know you and likes to listen and seems to understand.”

Staff from Bradford College and representatives of The King’s Trust praised the students for their confidence, professionalism, and the way they represented both the College and the wider Bradford community.

Bethany Harrison-Snaith, a member of staff from Bradford College who supported the students on the day, said: “It was incredibly special to see our students have this experience. Junaid and Alfie were outstanding – confident, respectful, and so proud to represent the College. You could see how much it meant to them, and it’s something I know they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives.”
