What is Qualified Teacher Status?

QTS is the Department for Education’s recognised professional status. It confirms that an individual has met the standards to teach in England and is a requirement for most schools in England.

A teacher with QTS can access the qualified teacher pay scale and is eligible for the Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction and support for the first two years of their career.

School-based Placements

Our school-based placements enable you to get hands-on experience; linking theory with practice. You will be supported by a college-based tutor who will work alongside you and your mentor to give you the knowledge and feedback to help you to develop skills and understanding needed to be successful.

With strong and established links with schools and nurseries in the local area, we will provide you with placements that are contrasting, compliant and support you in your journey to becoming a teacher.

Your future career will be built on a solid foundation of the highest academic standards of teaching and learning, as our teaching staff are experts in their chosen field and outstanding practitioners.

I had a great relationship with my tutors. Go into teaching with your eyes open. You need to be prepared for a lot of hard work because it’s a massive change coming from a steady job where I could come home in the evening and leave it but it’s definitely worth it when I see the progress the children are making.
