Autumn 2021 Resit Information for Students, Parents and Teachers

Due to the government cancellation of this summer’s exams, Ofqual has created an autumn 2021 resit exam series which will serve as an opportunity for any students that are dissatisfied with one (or more) of their final results from this summer to ‘resit’ the relevant exam(s) of the particular qualification(s) in the hope of achieving a better grade. This resit exam series will cover GCSE and A-Level qualifications from summer 2021 and the rough timeline of it is that A-Level resits will take place in October 2021 and GCSE resits will take place in November and December 2021. (Exact exam dates can be found on the relevant page of the relevant exam board’s website.)

How do I request a resit?

Bradford College will be running a limited resit exam series for those GCSE or ALevel students who have received a grade this summer but would like to resit in the autumn.

In order to resit a qualification in the autumn, a student should complete the relevant resit form (entitled Resit Form for GCSE / A-Level Exams in Autumn 2021, which can be found by clicking here) and return it to, by the relevant deadline, listed below:

The deadlines to submit your resit form are as follows:

A-Level Resits: Friday 3rd September

GCSE Resits: Friday 17th September

Please note, in order to be eligible for a new overall subject grade in the autumn, a student must resit all of the exam units that usually make up the qualification in question.

Students moving on to another college/school for further study in Autumn 2021:

Any students who leave Bradford College and move on to another college/school may return to Bradford College to resit GCSE qualifications, with the exceptions of GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Mathematics. The Joint Council for Qualification’s protocol for these two subjects, which Bradford College will be following, is that students wanting to resit GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Mathematics should resit them at their new College/school (and not at the institution that they have left).
