Overview

Being located at Bradford Royal Infirmary, DFN Project SEARCH offers supported internship programmes to young people living with a learning disability and/or autism, aged between 18 and 24.

The programme follows the school year and runs from September to July, offering meaningful work experience.

AlongsideBradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust,Hft a learning disabilities charity,DFN Project SEARCHandBradford Council, we will be offering internships that are designed to prepare young adults with learning disabilities the skills and abilities needed to enter full-time paid work.

We provide teaching, as well as workplace opportunities and work place mentors. The learner will be provided with a tutor who will deliver work skills training as well as a employability qualification.

Interns will take part in 3 different work rotations in a hospital environment. Our partnership with Bradford Teaching Hospitals allows interns to develop transferable skills in a wide range of roles, including: portering, admin, housekeeping, catering, pharmacy stores, care roles and more. HFT provide on the job support to help interns learn their job role.

DFN Project SEARCH is an academic year long supported internship designed for young people with and EHCP, transitioning from education to paid employment. The programme provides real-life work experience, combined with daily classroom sessions in employability and independent living skills.

  • Must have an EHCP
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Must have a desire to gain paid employment
  • Must be able to perform a variety of work place roles
  • Must be able to travel independently
  • Must be able to demonstrate professional work place behaviours

The programme includes meaningful work experience gained with our partner organisations such as Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Council.
