Overview

This course has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in schools or college environments.

Key Info

It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development supporting positive behaviour, communication and professional relationships. As learners need to show competence in both skills and knowledge they will need to be working or be on a practical placement throughout the qualification. It is recommended that they do 100 hours in a real work environment. To enroll on this course you must have a GCSE English at grade 4/C or above or functional skills level 2. It is advisable that if you do not have your Maths GCSE grade 4/C or Level 2 you need to be working towards this as it is needed to pursue a career working with children.

You will need secure yourself a work placement within a school setting within the national curriculum. 

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study and employment in Education and Teaching.
