You will complete formal written theory assessments designed to assess the depth and breadth of your understanding of plumbing science, plumbing system design, and the requirements for hot water, cold water, heating, and sanitation installations. You will also undertake a synoptic assessment (scenario‑based) where you will need to identify and use effectively, in an integrated way, an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories, and knowledge from across the whole subject area. This will involve plumbing system design, the requirements for plumbing and heating installations, inspection and testing procedures, commissioning activities, and the diagnosis and rectification of faults within plumbing and heating systems.

Other Costs: Other Costs: When working in the Plumbing workshops, you will need to wear safety boots with steel toe caps and a high‑visibility vest. Please make sure you have access to this equipment before starting the course, as it is essential for taking part in practical sessions safely.You may also be able to receive support through the 16–19 Bursary. This can help with the cost of kit, course‑related equipment and resources, including IT devices, connectivity and textbooks or study materials.
