You will learn how to install electrical systems – from wiring up a house to bigger jobs like installing stadium lights at a football ground. This course will provide you with the core foundation in electrical installation, making sure that you have the skills and techniques needed – backed up by the key information and knowledge to progress into a career in electrics.

  Key Info

Your workshop lessons ‘build in’ the theory, so that as you get better with your hands – you are automatically learning what you need to explain the theory. Starting off with the fundamentals of wiring different circuits, we will move you from working by yourself to working on a construction project in a team. Our employer partners help us design these projects so they are as close to real life as possible. Through mentoring and support, you are on the way towards a well-paid career as a professional Electrician.

You may take an assessment for English and Maths.

Please note that you will be required to wear safety boots with steel toe caps and hi-vis vest when working in the College workshops.

You’ll get feedback on your work in every session so you can plan how you will improve your skills and make yourself more employable. You will be assessed when you are ready for assessment – and not have to wait for the rest of the class to be ready.

Your course may include work experience or a work placement that could lead to the offer of a part-time or casual work, or you might work outside of your studies.

Successful completion of your course can lead to further study, apprenticeships or you may progress into employment. A domestic Electrician has the potential to earn up to £40k per year.

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken.
