Course overview

This introductory qualification is designed for learners who may be ready to progress quickly to further study, the Award offers a basic introduction to ICT and the business sector. This course is designed to build on the basic computer skills that people have picked up in school and helps understand how these skills can be utilised in employment and the business sector.  The course provides the opportunity to develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills related to the study of business and ICT in order for them to progress to further learning at level 1 and 2.

What you'll study

Our experienced staff will deliver a variety of practical lessons, seminars, workshops and presentations alongside independent student research. You will develop skills using up to date ICT and business industry research and practice. Visits and guest speakers are also used to help enrich your learning experience.

The course is based on a Programme of Study, which consists of: the vocational qualification itself; a City & Guilds Employability Award, maths and English, a tutorial programme and work experience. Learners will study three core Employability units and three sector specific units over the duration of the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a range of methods that include coursework, assignments and presentations.

Entry requirements

Entry 3: There are no entry requirements for this level apart from an interest in the specified subject and the ability to commit to positive behaviours and attendance.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

Work experience

There will be opportunities for experience of work - 30 hours experience of work.

Tuition fees

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our team.
