  Overview

This level will suit you if you have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge and looking to gain more responsibility by supervising others, running your own business or moving to a diagnostic technician level. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard.

  • Supporting Job roles in the Automotive Work Environment
  • Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices in the Automotive Environment
  • Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Faults
  • Carrying Out Non-High Voltage Operations On, Near or With an Electric Vehicle

16-18:

Entry to this course requires GCSE English and Maths at a grade 4 or above. As well as this, you must hold a Level 2 Motor Vehicle qualification.

19+:

No specific qualifications however you will need to have proficient knowledge in English and Maths.

Assessment includes practical tasks, oral/written questions as well as online tests.

A Level 3 qualification can lead to careers in:

  • Light Vehicle/Heavy Vehicle/Motorcycle Diagnostic Technician
  • FastFit Supervisor
  • Owning your own automotive business

If you are 19 years old or over you may need to pay fees for your Further Education studies.

Course fees depend on your age and course level.

You may be exempt from paying fees though, or eligible to pay a reduced fee – known as fee remission.

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 and studying on a full-time or part-time Further Education course, you will not pay tuition or examination fees.

This covers all Further Education courses, functional skills for English and Maths courses.

You will need to pay for course costs such as books, stationery, special equipment, exams, registration fee, travel, meals and any other course-related activities.

Help towards these costs is available for many students.
