  Overview

This course is suited to learners with a genuine interest in a career within the Uniformed Protective Services including: Fire, Police, Ambulance, Prison, Customs and the Armed Services (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Royal Marines). This qualification is designed to support progression to further study and accessing higher education. It is also equally suited for learners to progress to employment in the uniformed protective services.

The course is stimulating and varied, as it combines classroom-based study with exciting practical and outdoor activities, alongside numerous experiences with the uniformed services themselves.

Pre-Entry Phase Training Programme

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to participate in our comprehensive Pre-Entry Phase Training Programme. This program runs in conjunction with our Uniformed Services course, providing you with a well-rounded and immersive learning experience.

Through a combination of theoretical teachings and hands-on practical training, you will have the chance to enhance your skills in a variety of areas. From military field skills and problem-solving to effective communication and bush craft, our training curriculum is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and abilities needed for a successful career in the uniformed services.

Additionally, you will learn elementary tactics and resilience techniques, preparing you for the challenges of real-life scenarios. Join us in this unique program that will enrich your learning journey and set a strong foundation for your future in the uniformed services.

Entry to this course requires GCSE English at a grade 4 or above and GCSE Maths at a grade 3 or above. As well as this, a related qualification e.g. BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Uniformed Public Services.

Your progress and work will be internally assessed and as well as an externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.

It is expected you will cover up to 80 hours work experience on the course. This will include specific placement on experiences with a range of uniformed services. Day visits, guest speakers / workshops and residentials with the Uniformed Services are all included within this timeframe and your tutors and our work placement officers will arrange these for you.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study and employment within the Uniformed Protective Services.

If you are 19 years old or over you may need to pay fees for your Further Education studies.

Course fees depend on your age and course level.

You may be exempt from paying fees though, or eligible to pay a reduced fee – known as fee remission.

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 and studying on a full-time or part-time Further Education course, you will not pay tuition or examination fees.

This covers all Further Education courses, functional skills for English and Maths courses.

You will need to pay for course costs such as books, stationery, special equipment, exams, registration fee, travel, meals and any other course-related activities.

Help towards these costs is available for many students.
