Proof of Identity and Residency


Please note that students aged 19 or over will also be expected to provide proof of a West Yorkshire address as required by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. This could be a utility bill, bank statement, or any official letter addressed to you at a West Yorkshire address.

  • UK Naturalisation/Citizenship certificate
  • Benefit letter which states your name

If you are aged 16-18, please provide your own documents; birth certificate, Passport, National Insurance Letter and proof of your home address. If you are a family member of a UK/EU/EEA national, please also provide the family members documents.

If you are able to view your immigration status online using your United Kingdom Visas and Immigration account, you can use the GOV.UK website to obtain a share code. We can use the code provided to check your status.

Your share code will be 9 digits, and consist of letters and numbers.

If you can’t get a share code, you can use one of the other methods in this list.

If you provide a current passport, it should have a Home Office endorsement, must confirm your name and nationality, and proof of eligibility to study in the United Kingdom.

If you claim asylum in the United Kingdom, you will be provided an Application Registration Card (ARC) and Aspen card by the Home Office. You must provide both of these together if you wish to use them as evidence.

You can use a valid Biometric Residence Permit card to prove that you have the right to study in the United Kingdom.

You can use a letter from the Home Office confirming residency status if the letter is dated within the last 12 months.

If you are unable to provide any of the above, we will also accept:

  • Section 4 document
  • Refugee travel documents
  • Bail 201 letter
  • Section 98, 95 or 4 NASS support letter
