Bradford College Welcomes Lee Otway for Inspiring Performing Arts Masterclass

On Wednesday 7th January, Bradford College Performing Arts students had the incredible opportunity to learn from award winning actor Lee Otway, who is know for playing “Bomb Head” in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks for 10-years. He delivered an exclusive masterclass packed with insight, inspiration, and practical advice.

The session was a dynamic mix of hands-on techniques, industry secrets, and career guidance, giving students a real taste of what it takes to succeed in the competitive world of performing arts. Lee shared innovative approaches to performance, offered constructive tips to refine stage presence, and spoke candidly about his own journey in the entertainment industry.

Students were captivated as Lee discussed the realities of working in television, theatre, and film, highlighting the importance of resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning. His advice on audition strategies and professional networking resonated strongly with those aspiring to carve out their own paths in the arts.

The masterclass left attendees feeling motivated and better equipped to pursue their dreams, reinforcing Bradford College’s commitment to providing real-world experiences that prepare students for success in the creative industries.

About the workshop Lee said “The students were amazing and gave a great account of themselves and the college. The workshop was a keen insight into three key aspects of screen acting. Script analysis, character alignment and finally performance. The students were professional and they all gave a hundred percent. It was a privilege to work with them. I’ve known Steph Hindle, Lecturer, for a long time so when she asked it really was a no brainer. Bradford College has given so much to me, I studied for my BTEC in Performing Arts here back in 2000 and again as a postgraduate doing my teacher training more recently in 2023. It is a wonderful place to learn and I loved my time here. It was a real joy to pass on what I’d learnt here to the next generation. They really are a talented group and a joy to work with”
