  Overview

This NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport Coaching will provide a great introduction to the sport vocation and also the introductory skills to start a career in sport coaching / employment in the sport sector. This qualification can also prepare learners for progression to further and higher education programmes.

You will learn the knowledge and skills behind Sports Coaching, including Physiology and Anatomy, Nutrition and Exercise. The topics covered will arm you with the skills to plan and deliver safe and effective fitness coaching programmes.

Unit 1 – Participating in Sport

Unit 2 – Developing Skills and Tactical Awareness

Unit 3 – Sports Coaching

Unit 4 – Anatomy and Physiology

Unit 5 – Introduction to Healthy Exercise and Nutrition

Unit 6 – Sports Volunteering

Unit 7 – Factors Affecting Participation

Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of a grade 3 or D preferably including GCSE English and Maths.

English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

This course is assessed in a number of ways:

  • Written Assignments
  • Practical Assessments
  • A Work Placement

This course includes a 30 hour work placement that is related to your future career intentions.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to:

  • Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sport Coaching or Level 3 BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Sport Coaching and Development (dependent upon GCSE English and Maths grades) where the focus and goal will be further development of knowledge and skills and Higher Education should you wish to progress further
  • Employment within the Sporting Sector
