The T Level in Fashion, Textiles & Design is an exciting new qualification designed for students who want to turn their creativity into a career in the fashion and textiles industry.
This two-year course blends classroom learning with a substantial industry placement, giving you the chance to develop design concepts, technical garment construction skills, and an understanding of how fashion products are developed and brought to market.
You’ll explore the full lifecycle of fashion and textile design — from initial idea and concept sketching to fabric technology, digital pattern cutting, and sustainable production processes. With Bradford’s heritage in textiles and growing focus on sustainable and digital fashion, this course prepares you for a future at the cutting edge of creative design and innovation.
Equivalent to three A Levels, this T Level provides a direct route into employment, higher apprenticeships, or university-level study in fashion, textiles, or design.
You will learn design, development and production of fashion.
Core Component: Design, Development & Production
Understand how creative ideas are researched, developed, and realised in
fashion and textiles. You’ll study design principles, materials science,
sustainability, and consumer trends.
Fashion & Textiles Specialism
Focus on garment construction, pattern drafting, CAD design, and textile
development. Learn about traditional and digital manufacturing methods, quality
assurance, and the use of emerging technologies such as 3D design and virtual
sampling.
Employer-Set Project
Collaborate on a live project with a fashion or textiles company, responding to
an industry brief and producing a creative solution within professional
parameters.
Industry Placement (Minimum 45 Days)
Gain hands-on experience working within a fashion studio, design house, or
textiles manufacturer.
Assessment is through:
• Core written exams
• Employer-set project
• Occupational specialism assessments (practical portfolio and presentation)
After completing this T Level, students can progress to:
• Higher Education – Fashion Design, Textiles, Fashion Communication, or Product Design
• Higher/Degree Apprenticeships – Garment Technologist, Fashion Product Developer, or Pattern Cutter
• Employment – Junior Designer, Studio Assistant, or Production Coordinator
