Overview

Take your photography skills to the next level with our UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice (Photography). You’ll work in professional studios, explore digital and traditional techniques- including darkroom processes- and develop a portfolio that showcases your unique style.  
Guided by experienced industry practitioners, you’ll gain the technical and creative confidence to progress into higher education or the photography industry. 
As part of the Producing Academy, you’ll collaborate with other creatives, visit galleries, work on live briefs and exhibit your work in exhibitions throughout the course.

Develop advanced photography skills through practical, project-based learning. Work with professional cameras, lighting setups, and editing software to create striking images for a range of contexts. You will explore both digital and traditional techniques, including darkroom processes, while learning how to interpret briefs creatively. 

Projects could include fashion shoots, documentary photography, or experimental image-making.  

Alongside technical mastery, you’ll gain experience in research, visual storytelling, and presentation- essential skills for building a professional portfolio.

4 GCSEs including English Grade 4 Maths Grade 3

Learning is project-based, giving you the freedom to explore and develop your creativity. Feedback and collaboration are built into the process, helping you grow as a creative practitioner. Each year concludes with a Final Major Project, which determines your overall grade. 

At Level 3, students strengthen their professional practice by working on live briefs with real clients, gaining first-hand insight into industry standards and expectations. Learners are supported to build their own industry connections, developing independence and confidence for future careers or higher-level study.  You’ll also benefit from workshops led by industry experts, alongside opportunities to take part in competitions and exhibitions, helping you showcase your creativity and strengthen your portfolio. 

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to our Extended Diploma in Photography. This course is ideally suited for progression to photography, visual arts or specialist photography courses (such as fashion or editorial) at degree level.
