The Foundation (Transition) T Level in Legal Services is designed to prepare students for progression onto the full T Level in Legal Services (Level 3). It’s ideal for learners who are interested in a future career in law, business, or the public sector but may need additional time to build confidence, knowledge, and key skills before stepping up to Level 3 study.
This one-year programme introduces you to the legal system, key principles of justice and fairness, and the business environment in which law operates. Alongside core legal topics, you’ll develop essential skills in communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and professional behaviour — all supported by English, Maths, and digital skills development where needed.
You’ll also take part in employer-led projects and work experience to understand how law and business connect in real-world contexts.
Introduction to the Legal System
Explore how law shapes society and the role of courts, legal professionals, and government. You’ll look at real cases and develop an understanding of rights, responsibilities, and ethical issues.
Legal Research and Communication Skills
Learn how to find, analyse, and communicate legal information clearly and accurately. You’ll practise drafting letters, reports, and legal notes while developing professional writing and presentation skills.
Business and Customer Contexts
Discover how law supports business operations, from contracts to employment rights. This module also builds commercial awareness and customer service skills relevant to professional workplaces.
Personal Development and Employability Skills
Develop transferable skills for employment — including teamwork, problem-solving, and self-management — with a strong focus on professional conduct and career planning.
Work Experience and Employer-Led Projects
Take part in short industry placements and collaborative projects with local employers, law firms, or business departments to gain insight into the working world.
Assessment is through a combination of:
