  Overview

Our Beauty Therapy course will give you a nationally recognised qualification that could lead to a career in theatre, film and/or TV make-up.

This course will teach you many aspects of beauty and make-up, learning a range of techniques and styles, including applying make-up and photographic make-up.

Units on the course will include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Client Care and Communication
  • Make-up Application
  • Photographic Make-up
  • Creating an Image
  • Body Art Design
  • Nail Art
  • Face Painting

Entry to this course requires 3 GCSEs at a grade 4 or C, including GCSE English and Maths.

If you have not achieved the entry requirements, you may be offered the Level 1 Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector course.

English and/or maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

Please note you will need to:

  • Purchase and wear a uniform
  • Buy some equipment, such as make-up and brushes.
  • A camera will also be an advantage to have so that you can take photographs of your work for your portfolio.

All the necessary uniform can be purchased from the Hair & Beauty Department during July, August and September.

You may also have to provide some of your own models.

You will be assessed by:

  • Practical Observation
  • Portfolio Building
  • Assignment Writing
  • Written Tests

You can also participate in extra curricular activities, such as attending UK beauty exhibitions and trade shows. Please be aware there may be additional costs for extra curricular activities.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study or employment in the Make-up industries, including TV, Film and Theatre make-up.

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.
