Our City & Guilds level 3 course gives you a high level of knowledge and occupational skills in the plumbing industry and gives you the platform to progress to further vocational learning or employment. It will prepare you to enter a plumbing apprenticeship programme where you can be recognised by the industry as a competent plumbing and domestic heating engineer.
The high-level knowledge and skills you will primarily focus on include the planning and design of cold water systems, hot water systems, central heating systems and sanitation. You will learn to use the technical industry specific terminology, interpret design briefs for complex work-related tasks, carry out planning which shows an ability to identify and analyse the relevant information in the brief and achieve an outcome which successfully meets the key requirements of the brief.
Technical qualifications are based around the development of a toolkit of knowledge, understanding and skills that you need in order to have the capability to work in a particular industry or occupational area. You are expected to be able to apply your knowledge, understanding and skills in decision making to solve problems and achieve given outcomes. You will complete formal assessments and examinations including a synoptic assessment where you will need to identify and use effectively, in an integrated way, an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories, and knowledge from across the whole subject area. You will demonstrate your skills in the plumbing workshop and assessment centre.
