Overview

This course will teach you the basics of computers and how to make software. It’s great if you want to work with technology or learn how to code. 

You’ll learn how to write computer programs, test software, and understand how computer systems work. You’ll also find out how to use computers in a safe and responsible way.

  • Essential Unit: Developing a Personal Progression Plan: Plan and develop
    your personal and professional goals in the Accountancy industry.

    Optional Units (Choose two)

    • Developing Digital Information Using IT: Learn how to create
      and manage digital information.
    • Using Digital Communication Technologies: Understand and use
      different digital communication tools.
    • Solving Technical IT Problems: Develop skills to
      troubleshoot and solve IT issues.
    • Creating a Computer Programme: Learn the basics of
      programming and create your own computer program.
    • Developing a Digital Product: Understand the process of
      creating a digital product from start to finish.
    • Creating a Storyboard: Learn how to create a storyboard for
      visual projects.
    • Designing an Interactive Presentation: Understand how to
      design and create engaging interactive presentations

To join this course, you need:  GCSE English grade 2, GCSE Maths grade 2 

  • You’ll be assessed in various ways to ensure you understand and can apply what you’ve learned. These include: 

    • Coursework: Written assignments and projects that demonstrate your knowledge
    • Assignments: Specific tasks that require you to apply what you’ve learned in practical scenarios. 
    • Presentations: Opportunities to present your findings and ideas 

You will complete 30 hours of relevant work experience. This includes working with the National Citizens Service (NCS) programme, which helps you develop key employment skills and behaviours needed for progression to work. This experience is valuable for gaining practical insights and improving your employability in the sports sector. 

  • Completing the Level 1 IT and Software course can lead to
    various career opportunities in the IT industry. This course can be the
    starting point for a career in IT, such as:

    • Software Developer: Creating and maintaining software
      applications.
    • IT Support Specialist: Providing technical support and
      troubleshooting IT issues.
    • Other IT-Related Careers: Opportunities in system
      administration, network management, and more.
