Course overview

The Extended Diploma in Business enables you to complete nine additional Option Units. If this qualification is added to a 90 -Credit Diploma in Business, you will have completed 18 Units – equivalent to 1.5 A levels. If you achieve high grades, you will potentially be able to maximise your UCAS points to 420 to assist you in gaining a place at a university of your choice. On the other hand, this diploma will open up some job opportunities to you in a range of different businesses.

What you'll study

There are two externally assessed exams as well as assignments. In total, you study 4 units 3 are mandatory and one optional unit. This will support progression to a further year of study at L3. You can study Option Units from the following:

  • Aspects of Contract & Business Law
  • Development Planning for a Career in Business
  • Human Resource Management in Business
  • Aspects of the Legal System & Law Making Process
  • Understanding Retailing
  • Understanding Business Ethics
  • Recruitment & Selection
  • Aspects of Criminal Law Relating to Business
  • Internet Marketing in Business
  • Starting a Small Business
  • Website Design Strategy
  • Business Markets & the Economy
  • Understanding Health & Safety
  • Managing a Business Event

You will also study the Functional Skills Certificate which includes the study of Information Technology, English and Mathematics.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at a minimum of Grade C/4 (including English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above).

You will be required to attend an academic interview prior to being offered a place.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.
