For T Level student Marnie Hamilton, studying a T Level in Education and Early Years, is helping turn her ambition of becoming a primary school teacher into reality.
Now in her second year, Marnie is completing her industry placement at Dixons Marchbank Academy, where she is putting her classroom learning into practice and developing the skills and confidence needed for her future career.
“There’s a lot of content, but you can build a lot of knowledge and confidence from the course.”
As part of her studies, Marnie has been gaining hands-on experience at Dixons Marchbank Primary School, developing practical skills and discovering what working in education is really like.
“I like that you can put what you’ve learned into practice.”
Dixons Marchbank Primary School’s Principal, Rebecca Greenwood commented on the positive contribution T Level students make to its learning environment, highlighting how placements benefit both students and pupils:
“I have been blown away by the commitment and dedication shown by T Level students. Being with the school for two years means they become part of the team and really understand how school environments work.”
“Industry placements play a vital role in giving young people an insight and understanding of their preferred field.”

For Marnie, the experience has helped prepare her for university, where she hopes to study Primary Education.
“I think it’s given me a good foundation of what to expect when you go into a setting and start working.”
Encouraging other schools and employers to consider offering industry placements, Rebecca added:
“Offering T Level placements is one of the best initiatives we have supported as a school, not only do we get additional capacity to help with children to learn but we are also shaping the early years workforce of the future!”
Marnie ended with: “I’d recommend a T Level, especially here because the teachers are so supportive.”
