As a graduate you may need to top-up your subject knowledge before you start your teacher training. As one of the main providers for Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) provision we will have the course for you that fits your schedule and subject needs.
VIDLEARN is The UK’s leading platform for Distance Learning Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses. Our courses are delivered fully online by our educational partner VIDLEARN to ensure that you are fully prepared to start your ITT programme.
You can start your VIDLEARN course at any time during the academic year and learn at your own pace. Courses can be delivered over 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks and 28 weeks, and are offered both full and part-time routes.

At Bradford College, we provide more than just the SKE course. You will be invited to an induction session with the programme lead to ensure that you are familiar with the VIDLEARN platform.
You will be assigned a tutor who, alongside the programme lead, will be available to offer support and guidance.
Lee’s Journey
combining passion for performing arts with love of teaching
Although Lee’s professional life first took him into acting, the idea of teaching had always stayed with him.
“I first experienced the profession during a school work placement years ago,” he explains. “My acting career took priority for a long time, but eventually the timing was perfect to pursue teaching properly.”
To make that move, Lee returned to a familiar place, Bradford College, where he had completed a BTEC in Performing Arts 25 years earlier. “Coming back felt like returning to a place that had already supported my ambitions once before,” he says.
“Studying at Bradford College gave me the skills, confidence and direction I needed to move into teaching. The staff were supportive, knowledgeable and genuinely committed to helping me grow. Returning to a place that had encouraged my ambitions years ago felt right, and it proved to be the ideal environment to take the next step in my career.”
Funded DfE Courses
Funded SKE subjects are currently available in 5 secondary subjects: chemistry; computing; languages; mathematics and physics.
Eligibility
To apply for one of our funded SKE courses, you will need to have been offered a place on any Initial Teacher Training course with successful completion of an SKE a condition of that offer. It is important that you discuss with your provider which of our courses is the most suited to your needs and have a clear idea of the duration of the SKE required.
Costs
You may also be eligible for a bursary as you complete this course (prior to starting your PGCE). Details of this can be found on each course page, before you apply with details of eligibility.
