Bradford College Celebrates STAR Apprentices at Annual Awards

To mark National Apprenticeship Week 2026, Bradford College proudly celebrated the outstanding achievements of its apprentices at its annual Star Awards, recognising those who go above and beyond in their training and workplaces.

The event, hosted at Cedar Court Hotel and sponsored by employer partner CBRE, brought together students, staff, families and employers to celebrate Success, Tenacity, Ambition and Resilience (STAR) across the apprenticeship community.

The top award of the night, CBRE Apprentice of the Year, was presented to Tegan Durkin, who stood out among an exceptional group of finalists. Tegan was recognised for her enthusiasm for learning and consistently positive, proactive approach. Early in her programme, Tegan received a serious health diagnosis but showed remarkable resilience, continuing to excel and approach every challenge with determination.

Adult Apprentice of the Year was awarded to Nida Hayat for her high-quality work and exceptional attention to detail. Alongside caring for two children with additional needs, Nida volunteers at events, actively seeks feedback and consistently demonstrates professionalism and commitment.

The Breaking Barriers Award was presented to Joseph Worth in recognition of his determination and commitment to overcoming challenges while progressing in his apprenticeship.

Addressing the apprentices, Alina Khan, Vice Principal, EDI & Student Experience, said:

“You represent the very best of what apprenticeships offer: talent developed through opportunity, skill built through hard work, and growth achieved through lived experience. You are proof that vocational excellence drives innovation and builds the future workforce this country depends on.”

The Star Awards highlight the vital role apprentices play in supporting employers, strengthening local industries and building the skilled workforce the region needs for the future.
