Bradford College Construction Management Students Visit The Shard
Construction Management T Level students from Bradford College recently took part in an educational visit to London, with the iconic Shard serving as the centrepiece of the trip.
The visit was designed to give students the opportunity to experience a large-scale construction project first-hand and to better understand the complexity involved in the design, surveying and planning of major developments. The group consisted of two cohorts: T Level Foundation students and first-year T Level Construction Management students, all currently studying Design, Surveying and Planning.
Throughout the trip, the students were a shining example of Bradford College learners. They were extremely well behaved, highly engaged, and asked thoughtful, inquisitive questions throughout the day. For several students, this was their first visit to the capital, making the experience even more memorable. Their enthusiasm and curiosity reflected their commitment to their studies and their professionalism while representing the College.
The journey began at Bradford Interchange, travelling by train to London King’s Cross. From there, the group took the London Underground to Camden Market, where they enjoyed lunch before continuing on to The Shard. Students experienced The View from The Shard, taking in panoramic views of London from 900 feet above ground level, followed by mocktails at the top of the building.
The day concluded with a walk along the River Thames, passing HMS Belfast and crossing Tower Bridge, before returning to King’s Cross by tube and travelling back to Bradford.
The visit provided a valuable real-world learning experience, allowing students to connect classroom theory with industry-scale practice, while also building confidence and broadening horizons beyond the classroom.
