Regal Foods Delivers Inspiring Masterclass as Our Partnership Strengthens

Bradford College students enjoyed a hands-on learning experience on Friday as Regal Foods Mary Earle led a specialist cheesecake masterclass in the College’s newly upgraded training kitchens. The session marked another significant milestone in a partnership that continues to grow, bringing industry expertise directly into the classroom.

The workshop gave learners the chance to work alongside professionals from one of Bradford’s most successful food manufacturers Regal food, gaining insight into commercial techniques, flavour development, and professional standards in patisserie production.

Industry Support Enhancing College Facilities

The event follows a substantial investment from Regal Foods, who have funded upgrades to the College’s catering facilities to help bridge the gap between education and real-world industry environments. These enhancements include new commercial induction hobs, professional baking tins, cookware, and a high-performance fridge, ensuring students train with the same equipment used in modern professional kitchens.

Chef Lecturer Janice Flude emphasised the positive impact of this collaboration:
“When colleges have the opportunity to partner with industry professionals, it enables new perspectives and ideas to develop and enhance the curriculum. This allows our learners to grow and have a greater chance of successful employment within the hospitality industry. Regal Foods and the College are developing a strong partnership with mutual understanding from both sides, creating great values for the future.”

A Partnership That Connects Learning with Industry

What began with an invitation for Regal Foods to deliver themed workshops has quickly evolved into a valued, ongoing partnership. Previous visits have seen Regal host creative baking sessions, each time offering students valuable exposure to real industry techniques and expectations.

Their growing presence in the College, from branded equipment to regular in-person demonstrations, is creating an authentic commercial learning environment for students at every level.

From September, Regal Foods will play a regular role in delivering teaching and demonstrations as part of our Patisserie and Confectionery programme, strengthening the link between industry skills and classroom learning.

Gary Bradwell, Curriculum Manager for Catering & Hospitality, highlighted the significance of this collaboration:
“Partnering with Regal, a successful, diverse and ambitious local organisation, adds huge value to our curriculum and to the knowledge and skills of learners on our programmes. This relationship is built on meeting the needs of our community and helping young people gain real insight into the world of work.”

Looking Ahead

Friday’s cheesecake masterclass is part of a wider, long-term relationship between Bradford College and Regal Foods, one that continues to strengthen with each collaborative workshop. As the partnership grows, more opportunities will be created for students to experience industry-led learning, explore professional baking and patisserie techniques, and develop the skills needed for future employment within the hospitality sector.

Furkan Uddin, Assistant Principal, Young People & SEND added:
“We are proud to be partnering with Regal Foods to develop new patisserie pathways within the catering sector. Our students will benefit from developing specialist skills and learning from industry experts whilst exploring modern techniques within culinary arts. I am most proud to work with a value-driven employer that places the students experience at the heart of this collaboration. The exposure and insights our students will gain through this partnership is truly exceptional. We have some amazing activities planned in the coming years. Watch this space!”

Regal Foods’ investment and ongoing involvement are helping to create a vibrant, industry-informed learning environment, ensuring students are inspired, supported, and prepared for success.
