Apprentices Recognised for Outstanding Achievements

On the evening of Thursday May 9th, Bradford College and other apprenticeship providers and employers from across the region gathered at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford to celebrate the exceptional achievements of apprentices at the 2024 West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards.


As the headline sponsor, Bradford College was proud to support this event, which showcased the impact of apprenticeships in West Yorkshire. 

The College had much to celebrate on the night, with three of its apprentices receiving recognition for their outstanding work in their respective fields.

Amy Hickie of Muirhead Dental Health emerged as the winner of the Advanced Apprentice of the Year award, highlighting her exceptional skills and commitment to the dental health sector. Juliet Muirhead, Amy’s manager, said “From the start, Amy showed a keen desire to develop skills beyond clinical duties, eagerly broadening her horizons. As a relatively small practice, strong team dynamics are vital, and Amy is a capable, adaptable asset who enhances our team energy. Her positive dedication is invaluable.”  

Charlotte Kelly of Bradford Cyrenians was commended for her nomination in the Professional Services Apprentice of the Year category. Charlotte’s manager said about her role, “She supports two teams as a Tenancy Management Officer and is always keen to learn as she goes along. Charlotte immediately put her own stamp on the role and has taken on the job and tasks with gusto.”

Fizza Mumtaz of Bradford District Credit Union was also recognised, having been nominated for the Technology & Digital Apprentice of the Year award.  

Fizza’s manager praised her, stating, “Bradford District Credit Union is lucky to have her as a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprentice . She has shown great versatility which we have witnessed across areas like marketing, credit underwriting, and customer service.” 

Kelly McAllister, Head of Apprenticeships & Business Development at Bradford College, said, “We are incredibly proud of Amy, Charlotte, and Fizza’s achievements. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for their chosen careers are truly inspiring. These awards are a testament to the quality of our apprenticeship programmes and the exceptional talent we nurture at Bradford College.” 

Bradford College was also shortlisted for the Training Provider of the Year award after winning the category for the last two years. We were delighted to reach the finals owing to our commitment to delivering quality apprenticeship programmes that develop skills for success in the workplace and contribute to the growth and prosperity of the region.
