Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to learn and train in your chosen career as well as earning a regular pay packet. You will be given first-hand experience and learn the majority of the skills needed on the job, whilst also completing off-the-job training.
A dental nurse apprentice provides chair-side support for the dental team, which includes dentists, dental therapists, hygienists and technicians. You will develop the skills required to support patients and dental staff in providing safe and effective treatment from simple checkups to advanced specialist treatments.
You will be required to study on a day release basis for the knowledge aspect of this qualification.
Units covered are:
- Infection Control
- Assessment of oral health and treatment planning
- Dental Radiography
- Management of oral health diseases and dental procedures
Evidence of workplace compentency is gathered in an electronic portfolio.
The apprenticeship has an End Point Assessment (EPA) which will be arranged in your workplace.
Four GCSEs at a minimum of Grade C/4 including English and Mathematics. You will be required to have a PC with access to the internet.
Assessment will take place within the workplace.
