Asa Gordon

Vice Principal, Curriculum

Asa Gordon joined Bradford College in 2016 as Assistant Principal for Employer Responsiveness, overseeing the college’s apprenticeship division and the changes that needed to be implemented in response to the Apprenticeship Reforms of May 2017, as well as the College’s work experience department.

After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a BA Honours Degree in History & Politics in 2001, Asa started work in the finance sector before taking up his first role in education at The Oldham College in 2003. Asa progressed to the role of bid writer and project manager at the College, securing over £4m of external funding for the College to support employer and community developments.

In 2007 Asa moved to Wigan & Leigh College as Head of External Funding to lead the Colleges Train to Gain and Apprenticeship contracts as well as the College’s projects department. Managing relationships with nationally based employers, Asa increased the College’s contract value dramatically as well as diversifying the curriculum offer.  During this period Asa worked with Tesco and Morrisons to develop a Wigan-wide project that saw over 150 unemployed residents complete a retail accredited training programme that supported progression into sustained employment. Asa then moved onto Bury College as Director of Employer Responsive provision before moving to West Lancashire College to lead their Apprenticeship provision and work as the lead contact for the regional LEP.

In 2019, Asa’s role at Bradford College changed to Assistant Principal for Further Education that saw him take over strategic responsibility for further education at the College, with a focus on developing a new curriculum that met the needs of students, employers and the community. Working with heads of department at the College, this has seen the development of the Future Technology Hubs that involve employers, industry bodies and curriculum experts to develop the Colleges’ future curriculum offer and ensure we continue to develop the future workforce to meet the needs of the City.

Asa was promoted to Vice Principal (Curriculum) in May 2021, with a remit to develop the future curriculum across the College.  Asa is leading the new Future Technology building development at the College and is looking forward to working across the whole college to shape the future curriculum offer.
