Industry Experts Inspire Hair & Beauty Students

Hair & Beauty students from across all levels recently had the opportunity to take part in an inspiring industry talk and Q&A session from leading experts including Bev Golightly, Wella Professionals, Naheem Yacub, Owner of Naheem Yacub Barbers, and Neil Capstick, Founder of luxury haircare brand Neäl & Wølf.

Neil, who is local to the area, shared his journey within the hair and beauty industry, offering valuable advice and encouragement to students preparing to enter the profession.

“Supporting up-and-coming talent is so important. Bradford College is an amazing place, and I wanted to share the knowledge I’ve gained over the years. Every time I get the chance to do something like this, I just want to support,” said Neil.

The session focused on goal-setting, career development and the importance of connecting with professionals while still in education, through the department’s Ambition Hub innovative.

“If you get the chance to meet industry experts, embrace it. And if not – go out and find them. The hair and beauty industry is evolving fast, and it’s a limitless career with infinite potential.”

Students from Level 1 through to Level 3 were inspired by Neil’s words and the opportunity to engage in a live Q&A. Sophie Williams, a Level 3 Hairdressing student, shared her thoughts:

“The talk really inspired me with my hairdressing. It’s made me realise the industry is more than just sitting in a salon, you get out what you put in.”

Sophie then added that she’s most excited about styling and colouring hair for her hometown and hopes to see more events like this in the future:

“I’d encourage other hairstylists to take part in the college and take every opportunity head on.”

At Bradford College, we work with a range of industry partners like Neäl & Wølf to give our students real-world experiences that build their confidence and open doors to exciting careers.
