Game on at Bradford College: Free Games Design Club for Teens Unites Partners

Bradford College, Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, the National Saturday Club and a local social enterprise have joined forces to launch an exciting new Games Design Saturday Club for 13–16-year-olds – completely free of charge.

This unique partnership provides opportunities for young people to go beyond game playing and become game makers.

Delivered by Impact Gamers, a Bradford community-based organisation that exists to inspire young people, the programme offers young people an opportunity to build versatile and creative skills, develop confidence and discover pathways to further study and future careers.

Students will dive into essential skills such as storyboarding, character design, coding and user interface development. Each session is designed to be hands-on, ensuring students not only learn the theory but also apply it practically by building their own games. Everyone taking part will be taught the basic of games design to they can make their own small game.

The Club is part of the National Saturday Club’s network of 122 Saturday Clubs, which provide young people across the UK with free access to creative extracurricular education. Here, they can learn new skills, meet like-minded people and build confidence.

Thanks to the backing of Bradford 2025 City of Culture, this new Club will enable more young people in Bradford to take part in the year-long National Saturday Club programme of weekly Saturday classes and national events, including industry led Masterclasses and an end-of-year celebration of all they have achieved.

The Games Design Saturday Club is one of four National Saturday Clubs on offer at Bradford School of Art, alongside Art&Design, Film&Screen and Performance&Theatre. Club members have the chance to explore their creative side with support from School of Art lecturing staff and use all our facilities.

The Club is currently running, and you can apply to take part on the National Saturday Club website:  https://saturday-club.org/join-a-club/
