Free courses support positive mental health

During Mental Health Awareness Month, Bradford College is offering free courses for people who want to make a positive difference through learning.

Forster College, part of the Bradford College family, is offering the level 2 qualifications, helping learners gain a greater understanding of a range of topics and issues related to mental wellbeing.

They are therefore ideal for those who work with members of the public and would enhance the CV of anyone hoping to work in care, support or education.

Breaking the stigma

Duncan Burnett, Curriculum Area Manager for Community and Distance Learning, said: “The more people know about the subject, support available and how to identify signs that someone is struggling, the more we can take a positive step forward in breaking the stigma and being equipped to support positive mental health.”

The courses include:

  • Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace
  • Certificate in Understanding Children and Young people’s mental Health
  • Counselling Skills
  • Principles of Dementia Care
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Awareness of Mental Health Problems
  • Understanding Autism
