Bradford South MP Makes Special Bradford College Visit
Judith Cummins MP enjoyed a cross-campus visit of Bradford College this Friday, providing insight to her wider work as Chair of the ‘Restoration and Renewal Programme’.
As part of the visit, Mrs Cummins toured a range of new and refurbished facilities across both Trinity Green and Garden Mills campus, witnessing first-hand how Bradford College is trying to tackle national construction skills gaps.
Speaking on site, Judith said: “I’m a huge fan of Further Education and an even bigger fan of Bradford College!
“The College offers so much hope and is life transforming for people; that’s why I love it and I’m a huge advocate for all it does.”
The day’s schedule kicked off with chance to meet award-winning Bradford College apprentice, Ahmed Shakir. Sessions around plumbing, carpentry, and joinery also featured, all key skills of interest to Judith and her efforts with the Palace of Westminster ‘Restoration and Renewal Programme’.
“I’m here to show individuals at Bradford College that they could be involved in the restoration of the House of Commons”, she continued.
“It’s going to be a huge project going forward, with lots of opportunities for people across the country, and I want to ensure that our young people in Bradford can access these opportunities.”
Judith Cummins herself has resided as MP for Bradford South since 2015 and is also Deputy Speaker for the House of Commons.
In recent years, Bradford College has secured nearly £32million in funding, which is being used to build and enhance new facilities for people in the heart of Bradford.
