Bradford College Wins Global RoSPA Health & Safety Award

Bradford College is celebrating after receiving a prestigious RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Award, demonstrating a continued commitment to health and safety excellence.

The win came in the Industry Sector Award, in the Education & Training Services Sector, thanks to the College’s dedication to keeping staff, students, visitors and contractors safe at work.

Director of People Services, Sarah Cooper, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Bradford College has received this prestigious RoSPA Sector Award, as we take our responsibilities to health, safety and wellbeing incredibly seriously! Credit goes to both our Health and Safety Team, Daniel Mullan and Alex Mercer, and all other colleagues across the College.

“Everyone has a responsibility for health and safety in the workplace and this award demonstrates a positive safety culture embedded across the organisation. As a large college, we are also educating and supporting our learners to prepare them for progression into further study, apprenticeships or work. Ensuring all of these learners get to study and engage in many activities in a safe environment is essential for their continued success.”

Now in its 69th year, and with almost 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, covering over seven million employees, the RoSPA Awards are the world’s largest health and safety awards programme, recognising organisations and individuals who have set the highest standards in accident prevention.

Whether seeking non-competitive excellence recognition or entering for a competitive award across 20 industry sectors, each RoSPA Award entrant is assessed against rigorous criteria, making Bradford College a world leader in shaping safer, healthier workplaces.

Julia Small (RoSPA Growth Director) added: “Bradford College should be proud of the hard work and commitment to keeping people safe that has resulted in a RoSPA Award, which honours those organisations who have achieved the highest standards in health and safety in the workplace. RoSPA regards Bradford College as a strong example of the importance of making accident prevention central to any successful organisation, not just for the benefit of employees, customers and clients, but also society as a whole.”

Sponsored by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), the RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, and receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for the health and safety industry.
