“It was an absolute pleasure to work with staff and students from Bradford College across our 2024/25 Kit Launches. We wanted to ensure we offered enriching and unique experiences for students using our platform, providing them the opportunity to use their skills in a mutually beneficial way. Every participant played a key role in the project which I believe will benefit future employment prospects.”

Apprenticeships

What do I need to know?

What funding is available for me?

Apprenticeships are funded at either 95 or 100% by the government. This is dependant on your company size and the age of your apprentice when they enrol. Employers with an annual wage bill of over £3 million. If this is the case, you will automatically pay into an apprenticeship levy and have access to these funds via your online Digital Account Service. If this does not apply to your business, you will log on to the Digital Account Service and reserve the funding required for your apprentice.

How much do I need to pay my apprentice?

As of the 1st of April 2025, the Apprenticeship Wage is £7.55 per hour. The minimum apprenticeship wage applies to those aged 16-18, and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. All other apprentices should be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age, or more.

What incentives are available for my business?

There is a £1,000 incentive available to employers for hiring an apprentice aged between 16 – 18.

Additional CITB grants may be available for employers who recruit an apprentice in the construction industry.

How many hours can my apprentice work?

Apprentices should work for a minimum of 30 hours a week, and a maximum of 40. Time spent off the job at a college or in training is included. Part-time apprenticeships can be arranged in special circumstances at a minimum of 16 hours per week. For example where apprentices have caring responsibilities.

Can I only employ an apprentice at certain times?

We are proud to boast a roll on roll off curriculum which means all apprenticeships can begin at any point within the year.

Can I employ more than one apprentice?

There is no upper limit on the number of apprentices a company can employ, we would only advise that you are able to provide all with a quality experience.

Can my existing staff members gain a qualification?

Yes! If you have a member of staff looking to up skill or change roles within the organisation.

Higher Level Apprenticeships

A Higher Level Apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with studying for a higher qualification.

It will help you grow your business’ talent by developing your employees’ skills.

Offering a Higher Level Apprenticeship will help you keep your business up to the date with the latest techniques and increase productivity.

You can fill your own skills gaps by tailoring learning to your workplace while offering a clear work-based progression pathway to your employees.

Research shows that employees offered Higher Level Apprenticeships show more loyalty and often stay with that employer for longer as a result.
