If you are aged 16-18, have moved to the UK from another country and would like to continue your education in Britain and you are interested in a career within Science course is the perfect course for you.

You will spend approximately 16 hours per week in College. You will have the opportunity to study a Level 1 or Level 2 Award in Science and an ESOL qualification as well as Employability Skills. You will have a Personal Tutor who will look after your needs and you will take part in an exciting programme of enrichment activities.

You may join this course if your language level is consolidated at Entry Level 3 and you are interested in a Science based career.

This bespoke course provides learners with an opportunity to gain an appropriate vocational qualification prior to entering employment in the science sector. During your course you will learn about scientific rules, explore Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

This course will also enable learners to consider their relationship with the scientific community and their interaction with the community. This qualification provides opportunities for learners to engage in learning which is relevant to them and will provide opportunities to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

You will also develop your language skills, interpersonal skills, study skills, interview skills, presentation skills and have the opportunity to gain work experience.

We will support you with taught sessions, group and individual projects, study-related workshops, enrichment activities and tutorials. You will also have the opportunity to go on field trips during your time in study.

You will also develop your digital skills and work with the National Citizens Service (NCS) programme which helps to develop key employment skills and behaviours.

You may join this course if your language level is consolidated at Entry Level 3 and you are interested in a Science based career.

Achieving a Science qualification gives you the skills and background knowledge you need to start a Science based career such as becoming an Environmental Scientist, Food Scientist, Forensic Scientist and Medicine. You will also have the opportunity to progress onto a higher-level Science course.

Learners who successfully achieve these qualifications can progress to:

  • GCSEs
  • Diplomas
  • Apprenticeships
  • Supported employment
  • Independent living

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won’t have to pay tuition fees.
