Course overview

This Level 1 course will enable you to develop job understanding and skills to work in the sports industry.

This course is run at the Trinity Green Campus.

What you'll study

You will study a variety of units such as:

  • Working in Sport and Active Leisure
  • How the Body Works
  • Physical Activities for Children
  • Assisting a Leader of sports and Active Leisure and Plan and Deliver an Activity
  • Managing Your Health at Work
  • Risks and Hazards at Work
  • Planning Your Own Fitness Programme
  • Job Opportunities in Sport and Active Leisure
  • Planning a Work Placement
  • Taking Part in a Work Placement
  • Rights and Responsibilities in Sport
  • Safe Learning in the Workplace.

You will also study an award in personal social development (PSD).

You will be able to access sports and enrichment activities and have the opportunity to join the gym at both the College and the University of Bradford.

Wednesday afternoon is sports afternoon so you will be able to play for the College’s teams or take part in social sports.

Assessment

You will be assessed by both knowledge testing and practical demonstrations.

Entry requirements

GCSE English
Grade E/2
GCSE Maths
Grade E/2

You should be aged 16+ and have GCSEs at a minimum of Grade 2 including English and Maths.

English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

Next steps

Upon successful completion of this course you can progress onto other Level 2 courses.
