Course overview

The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Bricklaying is aimed at learners that are looking to start a career in the construction industry as a bricklayer. Learners could progress into employment as a bricklayer, onto an apprenticeship, or further their studies by taking other qualifications at Level 3.

It is practical based with classroom theory sessions.

Work experience

Your course may include work experience or a work placement that could lead to the offer of a part-time or casual work, or you might work outside of your studies.

Our students benefit from local site visits and trips to construction companies, such as our award-winning local partner Priestley Construction.

Next steps

You will be required to wear safety boots with steel toe caps and hi-vis vest when working in the College workshops. Successful completion of a Level 2 course can lead onto a Level 3 course. Your course may include work experience or a work placement that could lead to the offer of a part-time or casual work, or you might work outside of your studies. A carpenter/joiner has the potential to earn anywhere between £12K and £40 per year. Working in the construction industry could see you constructing and managing major buildings, structures and facilities. Career opportunities are available through large construction contractors and smaller specialist employers in the public and private sectors. You could also train to become your own boss and become self-employed.
