Course overview

This qualification is ideal for you if you are considering a career in engineering and will provide a basic understanding of fabrication and welding principles.

To earn this qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, including:

  • Working in engineering
  • Carrying out MIG welding processes
  • Carrying out TIG welding processes

The course is run at the Trinity Green Campus.

What you'll study

At Level 1, you will learn how to weld using different equipment and a range of materials.

You will be assessed for the Working in Engineering unit by an online multi-chioice exam.

The other units will be assessed in the workshop carrying out fabrication and welding tasks and a short answer test paper.

Entry requirements

Grade 2s in GCSE maths and English.

Work experience

Your course may include work experience or a work placement that could lead to the offer of a part-time or casual work, or you might work outside of your studies.

Our students benefit from local site visits and trips to construction companies, such as our award-winning local partner Priestley Construction.

Tuition fees

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees.

The amount depends on the number of hours and which course is being taken.
