Course overview

Our Health and Social Care Level 2 Diploma is a popular, practical, work-related course where you learn by completing projects and assignments. You will also undertake a work experience placement one day per week.

Placements can be anywhere in the Bradford district and you need to be prepared to travel to experience a range of health care settings.

This course is conducted in the David Hockney Building in the main city centre campus.

What you'll study

The course incorporates:

Maths, English, Health, Safety and Well-being and a work placement.

You will study a variety of units to prepare you for working in the adult social care sector.

These could include:

  • Equality and Inclusion
  • Safeguarding
  • The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker
  • Person-centred Approaches
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Supporting People to Eat and Drink.
  • The course incorporates:

Assessment

Each unit is assessed through a unit assignment or placement observation.

Tasks within these assignments vary and you will be assessed using methods such as: written work, posters, verbal questioning and role play.

Entry requirements

You should be at least 16 years old.

You should have GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade D/3 or above including English Language and Maths and one other subject.

A satisfactory DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and interview are required.

English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

Next steps

On successful completion of the course you may be eligible to progress onto the Level 2 Extended Diploma or Level 3 Technical Diploma in Health and Social Care dependent upon GCSE qualifications.
