Course overview

This is an intensive course aimed at helping people gain an accredited Literacy Functional Skills qualification. We can offer support at Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2 on this programme.

Place of study

The course takes place at the Advanced Learning Centre.

What you'll study

The course will develop three key skills:

  1. Writing
  2. Reading
  3. Speaking and Listening

Each class lasts for three hours to give you plenty to time to learn, understand and practice your English skills.

The course lasts 21 weeks.

Assessment

Before starting the course you will be asked to complete an assessment to find out what you already know and understand.

To successfully complete the course you will need to complete some assessments and discussions.

  • Writing (one hour assessment)
  • Reading (one hour assessment)
  • Speaking and Listening – to be observed in two class discussions

Entry requirements

Acceptance onto the course is by assessment.

You will need to bring evidence of your highest English and/or maths qualification.
