Carys studied Level 3 Music Performance and Production at Bradford College and has now progressed into Higher Education to continue developing her creative skills.
Carys first joined Bradford College straight after school to study Level 3 Music Performance and Production. After visiting other local providers, she chose Bradford College because, as she explained, “it offered opportunities that other colleges didn’t have, like free one‑to‑one instrument lessons.” She also said the environment “felt really nice and welcoming,” making it the right place to begin her creative journey.
Throughout Level 3, Carys found the support at the College exceptional. Weekly tutorials and one‑to‑one guidance helped her navigate academic challenges, and she credits the library team for their personalised help: “If I ever needed any reading material, I’d email and they’d send me loads of different books to choose from – it was really helpful.” She describes the College as “a very safe environment,” where staff were approachable and she could make friends across music, film and performing arts.
When deciding where to progress for Higher Education, staying at Bradford College felt like the natural next step. “It meant I could keep the same classroom, the same tutors, and the environment I was already comfortable in,” she said. The affordability, convenience of staying close to home, and the strong industry links — including festivals and events that led to real paid work — also played a major part.
Looking back, Carys says studying here gave her “the best opportunities” and helped her build confidence, skills and networks that shaped her future.
