Hasnain has made remarkable progress during his time on the Foundation Learning programme at Bradford College. Studying Entry 2 Skills for Independence and Supported Employment, he has been recognised with a STAR Award for his growing confidence, independence and commitment to developing essential life skills.
Since starting college, Hasnain has taken important steps forward in both his learning and personal development. With support from his tutors, he has begun to build key skills in reading, writing and using technology. “They gave me a laptop to write on,” he shared, highlighting he has been supported to build confidence in the classroom.
Seeing Real Progress and Growth
For Hasnain and his family, the difference has been meaningful. His parent described the positive change they have seen since he joined the course, particularly in his confidence and ability to do things more independently. He is now able to read, something he previously struggled with, and continues to develop his understanding of time and money. “He’s much more confident now, and he’s really happy in his class,” they explained.
Developing Independence for Everyday Life
A key part of Hasnain’s progress has been learning practical, everyday skills that support his independence. With guidance from his teachers, he is developing the confidence to complete tasks such as safely crossing the road and navigating the world around him. These small but important milestones are helping him become more independent every day.

Equally important has been the supportive and welcoming environment at Bradford College. Hasnain enjoys coming to college, has made friends and feels comfortable in his learning space. “I like being here,” he said, showing the positive impact the environment has had on his experience.
His family also highlight the role of staff in his progress, praising the care and encouragement he receives. “The teahers are really kind and help him a lot,” they shared. “We’re very happy with the college.”
