Mohammed developed an early interest in technology, which naturally led him to choose computing at college. He explains, “From a young age technology was something I was always interested in. I was actually developing websites long before college, and I knew I wanted to study computer programming at a higher level.” This strong passion drove his ambition to progress through further study and into the computing industry.

During the course, Mohammed developed a wide range of skills that continue to support his career today. “I built on various skills during my college experience, from coding to database skills, using tools like Excel more effectively, maths skills, and website production skills,” he explains. These practical and technical abilities gave him a clear advantage as he progressed.

After completing the course, Mohammed progressed to the University of Leeds. He chose the institution for its strong reputation, explaining, “The University of Leeds is among the top ranked for computer science and is a Russell Group university, with many modules I was interested in.”
Bradford College supported him every step of the way. “The college prepared me really well by helping throughout the university application process and supporting me with my CV,” he says. This guidance ensured a smooth transition to higher education.
Transitioning to University Life
University brought new challenges, but Mohammed felt ready. “University was a lot more independent, with more deadlines and exams,” he reflects. Thanks to his college experience, he had already developed the discipline and technical skills needed to succeed in this environment.
Launching a Career in Data
Today, Mohammed works as a Database Analyst at Purple Square Consulting Group. After graduating, he took a proactive approach to securing his role. “I ensured my CV was up to date, gained work experience, and used LinkedIn to connect with recruiters,” he explains.
He now enjoys applying his skills in a professional setting. “I enjoy working with SQL every day, using the latest tools and technologies, and continuing to expand my knowledge,” he says.
Reflecting on Success
Mohammed feels proud of the path he has taken. “I’m proud of pursuing my interest in computing throughout college and university, and then securing a role within the industry,” he shares.
He credits Bradford College as a crucial stepping stone: “Software Development Level 3 built the foundations of computing for university. I had already learned high-level coding before I even stepped into university.”
Advice for Future Students
Mohammed encourages current students to stay focused and ambitious. “Pursue your interests and ambitions – hard work pays off and anything is possible. There are plenty of opportunities, from university to apprenticeships,” he says.
He strongly recommends Bradford College to others, adding, “My experience was really good. It set me up for university, and the tutors and course content were spot on.”
