Choosing a T Level to Support a Future in Law
Anita chose the T Level in Business Management and Administration as a stepping stone toward a future career in law and it’s already opened more doors than she expected. From building confidence in presentations to gaining real‑world experience at HMRC, the course has helped her develop the skills and insight she needs for whatever comes next.
“I originally chose this course because I’ve always wanted to study law,” Anita explained. “I was encouraged to take business alongside it so I’d have a broader foundation and I’m glad I did. It’s given me extra skills, more options, and a solid backup plan for the future.”
Exploring Her Next Steps
Anita is still exploring her next steps, weighing up whether to go to university or move straight into employment. For now, she’s giving herself time to choose the path that feels right.
Throughout the T Level, she’s taken on a range of projects and assessments, with the DSP Employee Step Project and this year’s occupational specialism standing out as highlights. She particularly enjoyed developing presentations and using tools such as SWOT and PESTLE analysis to deepen her understanding of business.
Gaining Real‑World Experience at HMRC
Anita is currently completing her industry placement at HMRC in the PT Operations department which is an experience she says has given her a real insight into the world of work. “We’ve been working a lot with the DMS and COP systems, which manage and control payments,” she said. “The placement is split into rotations. My first was with the Vimeo team, and now I’m in PT Operations.”
The course has helped Anita grow both personally and professionally.
“I’ve developed so much – especially my communication, confidence, teamwork, analytical thinking and research skills,” she said. “Presenting was my biggest challenge. I’m naturally quite shy, but now I feel I can present much more confidently.”
Balancing her placement with her studies has given her a clearer sense of direction. “The industry placement makes such a difference. You get to see how things are actually done, where you need to improve, and what to focus on to reach your goals.”
Anita’s Advice for Future T Level Students
When asked what she would say to someone considering a T Level, Anita didn’t hesitate: “I’d definitely recommend it. T Levels give you so many opportunities. You can go straight into a job or choose to go to university. It opens a lot of doors.”
Looking back on her journey, Anita sums it up in one word: “Fantastic.” She feels the T Level has given her not only practical experience but also the confidence and clarity to move forward. Whether she chooses university or steps straight into work, she now knows she has the skills, resilience and ambition to succeed.
