Caitlin recently completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship and the BTEC Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff with Bradford College.
Zoe Corcoran, Head of School of Pharmacy has said “I was honoured to nominate Caitlin for her exceptional contributions to the field of pharmacy. Caitlin consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in her role, exceeded expectations, and set high standards for her peers. As a valuable member of the Medichem pharmacy team in Hipperholme, Caitlin’s dedication and passion for her work were truly inspiring.
Caitlin’s journey in pharmacy was marked by remarkable growth and progression. She continually took on more responsibilities, mastered new skills, and advanced through her career with determination. Her commitment to excellence was evident in her academic achievements in the pharmacy course, where she excelled beyond expectations, finishing the course 3 months earlier than planned. Caitlin’s practices significantly contributed to better patient care and more efficient pharmacy operations. Caitlin’s knowledge and skills, honed during her training, made a profound impact on patient health and well-being. Caitlin’s positive attitude, resilience, and dedication to continuous learning made her a role model for her colleagues and the broader pharmacy community. Caitlin’s contributions not only elevated the standards of her workplace but also positively influenced the lives of countless patients. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly nominated Caitlin for the Inspirational Adult Learner award. Her journey was a testament to the transformative power of adult education, and she was truly deserving of this recognition.
Thank you to the Pharmacy Assessing Team for supporting Caitlin through the course and to this achievement.
Guillaume ‘Junior’ Atangana and Donard Nyamjua, two Adult learners from Bradford College, were jointly awarded a Special Commendation at the recent West Yorkshire Adult Learner Awards, recognising their exceptional achievements and inspirational journey. Their story began in Cameroon, where Junior, who lost his eyesight at age six, discovered a passion for running, and Donard became his guide runner in 2019, forming an unstoppable athletic duo. After competing in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, they sought asylum in the UK, finding a new home and educational support at Bradford College. Junior, studying ESOL, and Donard, pursuing GCSE English and Maths, have thrived with the college’s support, balancing their studies with rigorous training. This dedication resulted in their historic bronze medals in the men’s 400m T11 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, marking the first-ever Paralympic medals for the Refugee Team. Their success not only highlights their incredible resilience and talent but also serves as a powerful example of the support Bradford College provides for individuals seeking sanctuary in the city, inspiring their peers and the entire college community.
