Bradford College Students Build Brighter Futures with Bradshaw Primary School

Year 10 Construction students from Bradford College have been putting their skills to powerful use, completing a hands on project that’s as meaningful as it is impressive. In a heartwarming collaboration with Bradshaw Primary School, the students designed and built a collection of wooden planters and bird boxes bringing colour, creativity, and care to a local school’s outdoor space.

This inspiring initiative is more than just a showcase of technical skills. It reflects the students’ growing sense of responsibility and pride in giving back to their community. By integrating values like sustainability, teamwork and social responsibility into their work, these young learners are not only shaping timber but also shaping their future as active thoughtful citizens.

“I am incredibly proud of our construction learners for their hard work and dedication in building planters and bird boxes for Bradshaw Primary School. Their craftsmanship and commitment to the project not only showcases their skills but also their willingness to give back to the community. This project has provided them with valuable hands-on experience while making a positive impact on the environment and the lives of younger children.,” said Tracy Wilkinson, Head of 14-16 Provision at Bradford College who was involved in the project.

The project highlights the college’s commitment to providing real-world experiences that matter. As these budding tradespeople hone their craft, they’re also learning the importance of using their talents to make a difference, whether it’s creating a space for nature to thrive or bringing joy to younger students.

Congratulations to the students and staff for this fantastic achievement. Their dedication is a testament to the power of vocational education, and a reminder that small acts like building a bird box can have a big impact.
