Motor Vehicle Students Enjoy Special Visit to United Autosports
A group of Bradford College Motor Vehicle students were treated to an exclusive tour of United Autosports this Monday.
Coming as a ‘legacy activity’ following our successful partnership with Mission 44 and Driven By Us, students were accompanied by United Autosports staff to see behind-the-scenes at one of the UK’s largest motorsport companies.
The visit provided the chance to witness first-hand where a qualification in the industry could take them. This included a tour of the company’s ‘historics collection’, featuring cars driven by the likes of Nigel Mansell.
One of the key facilitators behind making this joint-initiative happen, James Dornor (CEO, Driven By Us), said: “Opportunities like this are vital in giving young people real access into the motor industry and the chance to meet potential role models. They can give young people goals to work towards, whether in a year, five years, ten years or so on.
“Bradford College is going above and beyond to provide students with insight into their specialist industries, which may not appear readily available without support. Working with the College has been superb and staff have been both cooperative and accessible.
“We are pleased to hear this latest effort was so successful and will keep offering as much as we can to the students and Bradford community.”
United Autosports itself is one of the fastest growing motorsport teams in the UK, racing in different sports prototype categories all across the world.
Founded in 2010, the established company is co-owned by Zak Brown (CEO, McLaren) and Richard Dean (Former Racing Driver). Since forming 15 years ago, the organisation has enjoyed success in a whole host of races globally with drivers such as Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso.
Speaking on the United Autosports visit and continued social value activity happening as a result of working with Mission 44 and Driven By Us, the Bradford College Projects Team said: “This has been another fantastic opportunity for College students, enabling them to gain more valuable understanding of the endless possibilities on offer through a career in the industry.
“We’re so excited to see what comes next in terms of activity happening as a result of these positive relationships formed. A huge thank you to both United Autosports and Driven By Us for making this incredible experience a reality for our students.”
