The courses listed above provide an interesting range of modules that explore education at both undergraduate and post graduate academic levels. Some courses have a particular focus in terms of sector and others cater for all sectors with pathways available to enable you to pursue a specialism. Education is made up of the primary (4-11), secondary (11-18) and the post compulsory sector (14 to adult). The Foundation degree in Supporting and Managing Learning in Education (SMLE) and Education Studies degree look at all sectors of education. The Foundation Degree provides professional development for those working in learning support in the primary, secondary and post compulsory sector. Students from the Education Studies degree progress onto a range of careers and further studies in learning support, educational administration and teacher training courses e.g. PGCE.
For those that are already graduates and work in education the Masters in Education provides an opportunity to enhance CVs and study areas of particular interest. The named routes give a clear indication of areas of expertise within the School. The top-up degree BA (Hons) Supporting and Managing Learning in Education provides the final stage of academic study for those with a professional commitment to primary education.

Our students tend to come from local communities and many are currently in employment in a teaching or other role in education. The Foundation Degree in Supporting and Managing Learning in Education is the only course that requires a current placement or that you are in paid employment. Teaching sessions draw on a rich variety of personal and professional experience which enhances discussions. The teaching teams come from a variety of sectors and professional backgrounds and all are teacher educators. The School receives excellent feedback from the National Student Survey and module and course reviews. Your educational journey is important to us.
